The Deal by Elle Kennedy is an absolute juggernaut in the New Adult romance genre. Serving as the explosive first installment in her wildly popular Off-Campus series, this book sets the gold standard for contemporary college sports romance, effortlessly balancing scorching chemistry and witty banter with deeply emotional, high-stakes character growth.
The story follows Hannah Wells, a talented, music-loving college student who has been harboring a massive, silent crush on Briar University’s resident football star. While Hannah is incredibly sharp and confident in her studies, she carries deep emotional scars from a past trauma that makes navigating the dating world incredibly daunting.
Enter Garrett Graham, Briar’s elite, ultra-charming hockey team captain. Garrett has one singular focus: maintaining his GPA so he can graduate, secure a professional NHL contract, and escape the suffocating shadow of his abusive, legendary father. When he bombs a critical philosophy exam, his dreams are suddenly in jeopardy.
Discovering that Hannah is the only student in the class who aced the test with an A, Garrett tracks her down, desperate for her tutoring help. When a simple request fails, Garrett proposes a mutually beneficial arrangement—the deal.
