The Naturals is the addictive, fast-paced first book in Jennifer Lynn Barnes’s hit YA thriller series. It introduces us to the entire premise and brings the core team together for the very first time.
After her mother’s unsolved murder, seventeen-year-old Cassie Hobbes survived by using her uncanny, natural ability to read people piecing together their secrets just by observing the smallest details of their clothes, posture, and expressions. Her quiet life is upended when the FBI recruits her into a classified, elite program housed in a secure mansion. There, she joins four other remarkable teenagers, each gifted with an unteachable psychological trait: a human lie detector, a statistics genius, an emotional reader, and another brilliant profiler with a dark family history.
While the FBI’s official plan is to have the teens safely analyze cold cases from the sidelines, a new serial killer emerges who begins mirroring the exact details of Cassie’s mother’s death. Suddenly, the case becomes terrifyingly active, and the group must pool their unique psychological gifts to catch a predator who has turned his sights directly on them.
